Yixing City is a county-level city under Wuxi in the south of Jiangsu Province, China. It is located on the west bank of Taihu Lake, at the junction of the three provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui, and is the geographical center of Shanghai, Nanjing, and Hangzhou. It is a famous historical and cultural city in China. Yixing is known as China's "pottery capital" because of its rich purple clay. Its purple clay pots are well-known both at home and abroad (Yixing purple pottery is a Chinese geographical indication product). The city's total area is 1996.6 square kilometers (including the Taihu Lake area of 242.29 square kilometers).
